  • Roadside Waterfall

    Roadside Waterfall

Following my hike to Upper Falls & Second Falls, located along the Graveyard Fields Trail in the Pisgah National Forest of North Carolina, adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway, I spotted this roadside waterfall on my drive home. Acting on impulse, I found a narrow strip on the shoulder of the road to park, and walked back uphill nearly 1/2 mile to capture this scene. Prints available.

    North Carolina

This is the scenic top section of Upper Falls, located along the Graveyard Fields Trail in the Pisgah National Forest. Unfortunately for many hikers, this waterfall remains unvisited, as it not visible from the lower section of Upper Falls, and the trail upward is less travelled, undefined.

A wide variety of prints are available when you visit my gallery at Pixels, including: framed, canvas, art, metal, poster, wood, acrylic and tapestry.

You can discover many other great products, also, in my shop at Redbubble – an excellent source for great gift giving ideas!

Framed prints can be customized to suit wishes.

  • Return to Second Falls

I recently had an opportunity to enjoy a hike at the Graveyard Fields Trail, located along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.

The trail is at an elevation of 5120-feet above sea level and I enjoyed a nice view of the sunrise. A vantage point along the road also offered a distant view of Second Falls, one of two waterfalls I visited. Lastly, I was pleased with the autumnal colors shown across mountain foliage.

These photographs have been made available on prints in my gallery:

    Thanks for stopping by!

  • Second Falls

Located along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Pisgah National Forest of North Carolina, Second Falls is one of two waterfalls which can be enjoyed while hiking the Graveyard Fields Trail.

If possible, arrive early – this is a popular area which can become quite crowded with overflow parking along the street. Information placards include a map of the trail – study this closely, as a mix of trail spurs can become confusing – and, restrooms are available. Also, dogs are welcome on this trail but must be kept on a leash.

Hikers should come prepared with ample water, and expect to encounter mud on the trails. While it goes without saying that rocks can be slippery, so too are wooden steps and boardwalks – exercise caution. In summary, I really enjoyed my hike on this trail!
