  • Poem: Her Lovely Smile

    Poem: Her Lovely Smile

Her lovely smile has the power to compel poetry. At an age 17 years younger, she’s Mukti Masih – a published poetess, author and successful content writer from India. After a recent exchange, I wrote this poem as I drifted into a daydream

Every time I see her smile
Heaven shines a light on me
    Happy heart in sweet delight
Chasing dreams of what could be

       On the rhythm of waves
Rang a sound from her heart
       Where the waters of love
       Know no end, only start

       On a ship under sail
       Without map, simply stars
       And a warm summer breeze
       With acoustic guitars

On a course to the east
       Currents carry and flow
       Is this only a dream?
       Perhaps, yes, I think so

Were it not for many miles
And the years, so far apart
Both day and night - time to share
    Grand adventures of the heart

  • Abstract 3D Heart

    Abstract 3D Heart

I gave her my heart. Sometime later, we went our separate ways and she gave it back to me. Everything had changed so quickly – it felt surreal. Taking precautions, doctors were shocked to observe that my heart closely resembled a textured, three dimensional structure, something akin to having been designed with Affinity Photo and Filter Forge creative software…🤪

  • Poem: On My Mind

    Poem: On My Mind

    She sees the world
    Through loving eyes
    A special place to be

    And as I gaze
    Into her eyes
    Her magic speaks to me

    A welcomed smile
    And cheerful laugh
    Enraptured by her ways

    If but one wish
    Were granted me
With her, I’d share my days

    I wrestle words
    And read aloud
Then put them in a poem

    She’s on my mind
    each waking breath
    Thoughts of a happy home

  • Poem: She Placed a Star

    Poem: She Placed a Star

I wrote this poem for a friend who is a frequent source of inspiration, Mukti Masih – a published poetess, freelance writer and beautiful woman from India…

I watched as she placed a star in the night sky
Fixed by her gentle touch, as though meant to be
    Brilliantly aglow in its constellation
Within my heart, I have a space for Mukti

    I read her verse
    A birthday gift
    The words rang true, indeed

    If I may ask
    Just one more time
    I’ll listen and pay heed

    Please hear my call
    Through prayer today
    Desires of the heart

    To find a way
    And bridge the gap
    Together, make a start

Eternity so long, when love lives alone
Like an empty house, with one room but no phone

    Longing for her voice
    As the day draws near
    Both hands, hand-in-hand
    Our path ahead clear

    Whispers with a welcomed tone
She pressed her heart to my ear
    Speaking in another tongue
Her language of love rang clear

  • A Precious Soul

    A Precious Soul

Calmly pouring a dab of sugar-water into her hand, I watched as she positioned it under a ray of morning sunlight.

It glistened as I listened to the sound of a faint fluttering, slowly growing stronger.

Soon, a hummingbird appeared, pausing briefly to glance my way before proceeding to drink from her palm, thirsty and trusting.

From a precious soul, precious love emanated from her eyes in sharing and caring for this small, delicate creature.

I’d never seen a bird smile before that day, and I’ll always treasure the beauty in her eyes – a joy in my heart.

  • Poem of Dreaming

    Poem of Dreaming

    Some may say she’s perfect
    She’ll tell you otherwise
    Aware that she has faults
    There’s no need for disguise

Her shy smile and brown eyes
    Each melt my heart away
    Plus, an inner beauty
    She’s more than just okay

The time to share is now
While in the Spring of life
    And were my wish fulfilled
Come Fall, she’d be my wife

    Yes, I know I’m dreaming
Though hope to see the light
    Thinking of her daily
    And wanting what feels right

Of course, a few things would need to change. For starters, it certainly would be nice if she’d remove my name from being blacklisted on her site at WordPress. It would also be charitable if my emails were no longer filtered into her trash bin. And, on occasion, she could use Twitter to read some of the messages & comments I’ve left for her. Perhaps, as an act of goodwill, she might like a single post on my web site…sometime. Lastly, if she would refrain from associating my name with the term ‘devil’ – I think that would be helpful, too. Barring these few exceptions, the future looks bright!!!

    Yes, I know I’m dreaming.

  • Poem of Togetherness

    Poem of Togetherness

    Her Hand In Mine

If I reached out and took your hand,
Would you take it back or squeeze?

Would you tell me where I could go,
Or move closer, as you please?

    If the former,
    Then please explain –
My heart is in your hand.

    If the latter,
    No need to talk –
    Your wish is my command.

I want to make things right with you,
    And drift into the night.
For both to share our love as one,
    Until the morning light.

  • Poem of Love

    Poem of Love

I was inspired to pen this poem after reading a writing by a friend

    In My Heart

Her eyes drew me in to a soul I found pure
Very precious and rare, of that I am sure

    Not cut as a cookie
    Her beauty unique
    Both inner an outward
    Distinctive and chic

A place in my heart very special to me
This spirit-warming love which will always be

    Saying Goodbye To A Ghost

Simple themes on a canvas –
on the wind, a transient cloth
Like a dream or ghost in my heart.

A weight of emotional scale –
From equilibrium, light rises to dissipate
    An apparition of appreciable bearing.

    In likeness absent chamber –
A transcendent mirage, untimely and apart
    Goodbye my beautiful little ghost.
