  • Cascades

    Cascades

    This summer photograph of cascades was taken at the Savage Gulf State Natural Area, upstream from Savage Falls. Like many other waterways on the Cumberland Plateau, the volume of water present varies greatly depending upon the season of the year. Despite a low level during my visit, I nevertheless considered this underlying rock structure a real treat to see, and photograph. If interested, prints are available. Thanks for visiting!

    This 15-foot tall waterfall known as The Sinks is located along Little River Gorge Road, in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.   • Cummins Falls

    Cummins Falls

    Located on the Cumberland Plateau near Cookeville, Tennessee, the 75-foot tall Cummins Falls draws visitors from far and wide. Annually, it accounts for the 8th largest volume of water for a waterfall in the state, and much of the trail used to access the base is the riverbed. Also, inexpensive permits are required to enter the gorge.

    Water ripples on Richland Creek amidst a rocky gorge embankment, located along the Laurel-Snow Trail in Dayton, Tennessee. It’s one of my favorite places to hike, featuring a diverse array of waterfalls, creekside beauty and tall cliffs.
