This poem was written for a dear friend, Carla Milho – a very talented writer and lovely lady from Lisbon, Portugal – who is a frequent source of my inspiration, often on my mind and in my heart…
Beneath starlit skies Passion lights our eyes Drawing near, love invites summer fun
These moments, sublime – always right on time When we feel our two hearts beat as one
Having read “A Qualquer Altura” (Portuguese, meaning Anytime) by Carla Milho, a gifted writer, truly beautiful woman and dear friend – wherein she speaks of dreams, love and courage – I was inspired to write this poem in response…
She puts the poem in my pen And so, I’m at it again Sending song through my words to her heart
I hope one day she will find That we are two of a kind Hear my call Share her love Play a part
Over the passed few years, I’ve published several poems on my web site. Many are written in response to creative writings posted by friends, and, therein, are commonly entitled Poem in Response, or, Poem for a Friend.
However, I also oftentimes include poetry in my comments on other sites, in response to various posts of friends which I’ve enjoyed reading. As such, and without further adieu, here are a few samples which I’ve penned…
Interlaced with threads of sadness, where shadows fade into night like days of the future passed, blended with blues into a blur of yesteryear, this half empty outer world exists in stark contrast to the full beauty you exude, an inner glow of which can brighten every tomorrow.
Soft moonlight in her eyes
A flower in her hair
She reached to take my hand
- come with me, if you dare
I dare, my dear
Indeed, I do
I so enjoy
This time with you
We walked awhile
Without a word
Then suddenly, she stopped
In warm embrace
Our bodies pressed
Onto the sand we dropped
Into the night
We fell in love
As stars dotted the sky
When morning came
She winked and said
- until next time, goodbye

Your poetry flows as the beauty of sound present in water cascading through a forest, which, when emerging from the trees to see the source, its movement washes over ones heart in a blanket of peaceful appreciation.
This poem was written for Holly Hunter, a beautiful woman and talented poetess hailing from Florida. She’s a frequent source of my inspiration, a dear friend and someone whose company I truly appreciate. Please visit her site at House of Heart to enjoy her creative writings – thank you!
On astral winds
She drifts sublime
Across a starlit sky
Southern beauty
- Floridian
The apple of my eye
Her waves of red
Long, lustrous hair
Accentuate delight
Her gorgeous smile
Spreads happiness
Warming my heart at night
A cosmic trail
Illuminates
The path with which I'll flow
So, if one day
She welcomes me
Two hearts, as one, may grow
Having read “A Leitura” (Portuguese, translated as The Reading), written by a very talented writer, beautiful woman and dear friend, Carla Milho – wherein she shares thoughts regarding emotion and perceptions – I was inspired to write this poem in response…
To see your eyes As I awake – my dream must have come true
Soothing, your smile Warming, my heart Together, here with you
Message to Carla: Your green eyes captivate with a beauty so grand as to melt the hearts of those whose vision you enter. Were good fortune to cross my path, such that tomorrow would see us sharing time together, I would forever be blessed with your presence, to appreciate wholeheartedly the joy which you so humbly, yet abundantly, convey. You, my dear Carla, more than any other, have the power to make dreams come true.

Weightless in the waters of Europa, we shall gaze upon Jupiter, inspired and breathless with awe. Then, pursue a trail of stars as we indulge in grand equatorial vistas of Mars, along the Tharsis Rise. Sojourners, we’ll return to sink our feet into the sands of Jost Van Dyke and wet our whistles at the Soggy Dollar Bar, as the Caribbean Sea glistens with life before our eyes, calling us to swim again.
Having read “Loved Like Roses“, written by the beautiful Holly Hunter, a very talented poetess and friend hailing from The Sunshine State – wherein love is nurtured and flourishes in a summer garden – I was inspired to write this poem in response…
Flowing curves, under pen Laced of ink rippling wet Words converge, fresh with love Roses bloom in duet
After enjoying “Rusty Rose“, a wonderfully creative mixed media artwork by my dear friend, Tiffany Arp-Daleo, a Bohemiam Abstract artist residing in San Diego, California – and, knowing that she also enjoys the Grateful Dead – I was inspired to write this poem in response…
