  • An Irish Riddle

    An Irish Riddle

    The Question

Can you cite an example of a sentence which uses the word “and” consecutively, five times in a row?

    The Story

In Dublin, Ireland, there was a pub known as the Bear And Boar. One morning, following a powerful storm, the sign from that establishment was found broken, scattered in shambles across the ground. So, the proprietor set about to make repairs.

Some time later, a patron wandered along and was greeted by the owner. “Good day, Finnegan. How do you like our new sign?” Finnegan studied the sign for a spell, then responded…

    The Answer

“I like the new sign just fine. However, if it were up to me, I would’ve left more spacing on the sign between the words Bear and And, and And and Boar.”

    Poem for a Friend

    By flowing hands
    Of humble heart
    Her mind creates
    Distinctive art

She’s Karima Osterlund, an abstract artist who hails from Dublin, Ireland. I encourage you to visit her on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, to enjoy her extraordinary artworks and inquire about purchases. Thank you!

    Intuitive
    She paints by feel
    As lines and shapes transform

    A blank canvas
    Is brought to life
    Her gentle vision, warm

    Poem in Response

Having read Feeling the Squeeze, poetic prose by the talented and often inspirational Arizonian poetess, Michele Lee Sefton – wherein she writes about regional economic history, homegrown citrus & making lemonade – I was inspired to write this poem in response…

    From gloves to weed
    And holes to seed
    To roots with shoots
    And dirty boots

    The work you’ve done
    Unfolds as fun
    At harvest time
    Your crops, sublime

    Inside A Golden Fractal

Do you remember what the interior of the space colony looked like in the movie, Aliens? Well, it was something like this, though this digital artwork was created in three dimensions using a fractal, and not as the result of some menacing creature from outer space. Thank goodness, because you can enjoy this cool design in safety by visiting these online shops:

  • Poem: Daydreaming

    Poem: Daydreaming

We’ve all daydreamed at one time or another, drifting into a pleasant vision or wishful scenario of ones imagination. This poem speaks to such moments and compliments a lovely woman from India – Mukti Masih. She’s an accomplished writer and business Head of Content, a friend who is frequently the source of my inspiration, and the woman of my dreams…

She entered a dream that was dreamed long ago
A vision of beauty dancing in my mind
An Indian woman whose name is Mukti
Both poet and artist, and one of a kind

    I pinched myself twice
Combed the sky for a star
    My wish, happiness
      With her light from afar

    On paper in pen
      I opened up my heart
    To longhand these words
      Emotions, to impart

    In seventeen years
      I awoke from this dream
    With her, by my side
      Sipping spiced chai with cream

    She poured me a cup
As I looked in her eyes
    Good things can come true
      In a wink, by surprise

    Poem in Response

Oftentimes, creative people excel in several areas. This is the case with my beautiful friend from India – Mukti Masih. I’ve enjoyed reading her poetry, and, seeing her wonderful paintings, was inspired to write this short poem:

    She stood by a wall
    A wall with her art

    I marveled at both
    Felt warmth in my heart

    A camp on the lake
    Moonlit glowing skies

    Reflections of light
    From stars, and her eyes

Having read “Living Green and Dancing with Love” by Arizonian poetess, Michele Lee Sefton – in which she speaks about food, nurturing gardens and family – I was inspired to write this poem in response…

    Your stature as poet, inspirational
    Your beauty in dance, divine

Your thumb in the garden, green
A woman of talent, impressively fine.

Having read “Lend Me Your Poem” by talented poetess, dancer and friend Annabel – wherein she speaks of life, light and love – I was inspired to write this poem in response…

    Lend me a pen
And I’ll write you a poem

    Lend me your hand
    Under starlight we’ll roam

    Aloft of clouds
    As light as a feather

    Burgeoning hearts
    Drawn closer together

    Satellite of Earth

Beneath the moon’s surface, an interior environment eludes observation…

After desaturating and formatting a fractal design, it was then imported into three dimensional space and extruded to generate depth of terrain. Several spheres were positioned accordingly, and the entire scene was placed within a hollow, reflective dome. Color, materials and lights were added, as well as magnification.
