Sands of Time
Around the lake on winds of change
The sands of time did rearrange
To shift terrain along the shore

One of the early lessons I learned as a child growing up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, in the city of Marquette on Lake Superior, was the enormous power of Mother Nature. Though some geographical locations remain relatively unchanged over time, the shorelines of my youth were renewed with each major storm — altering beaches and sandbars, as well as gigantic boulders washing up on to the harbor breakwall.
This vintage photograph highlights the shores of Gitche Gumee to the northwest of Marquette, near Little Presque Isle. If interested, it’s available on a variety of prints and other items in my galleries at Pixels, Redbubble and ArtPal.

Poem: Wishing on a Star
I originally wrote this poem on December 22, 2020, in response to reading “Make a Wish to a Star and It Will Come True“, by Carla Milho, a very lovely lady and talented writer from Lisbon, Portugal. I then posted it on my site a few days later, as part of a compilation. And, now…freestanding.
⭐ A light to the east, After dark In the sky. 🕊 A dove is released, And my wish Came to fly. 🙏 Bound for the heavens, With trust In a prayer. ❤️ The woman I love, With hope We will share.

Humor: A Long Day
After a long day of hiking in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, I was exhausted, hungry, and still several miles away from my vehicle parked at the trailhead. So, I decided to call a cab for a ride back. Fifteen minutes later, this vintage 1920’s Cadillac taxi arrived – with no driver. Unfortunately, the keys were neither in the ignition nor tucked under the visor…alas.
