Returning from the Late Afternoon Delight location, I crossed the road and carefully descended a steep, twenty-foot hillside. At the base, I waded across the creek and found this scenic landscape view, as seen looking under a bridge (hence, the dark shadow) from one side of the road to the other. Prints available here.
A few miles further into the Smoky Mountains beyond the Old Wooden Bridge, at the end of a dirt road, visitors arrive at this footbridge marking the trailhead of Middle Prong Trail. It also marks the end of Lynn Camp Prong, which, when merged with Thunderhead Prong (unseen, this side and right of the footbridge), becomes Middle Prong Little River, shown here.
I took this photograph yesterday evening, two hours after rain and while (carefully) standing on a broad, moss-covered rock in the river.
And, to better appreciate the beauty of the area, I’ve also included this video, taken with my iPhone. Enjoy, and thanks for stopping by!

Photo One. Shot before sunrise, burgeoning sunlight reflects off the bottom of clouds, briefly casting an orange glow along Middle Prong Little River.
Photo Two. Located one valley to the west, this is Thunderhead Prong. As a photographer interested in long exposure water shots, this is a good secondary spot to visit, as the sun remains shielded later into the morning.
Photo Three. This change of seasons scenery includes a footbridge at the trailhead of Middle Prong Trail, marking the point at which the waterway changes names, from Lynn Camp Prong to Middle Prong Little River.

From the Cumberland Mountain State Park, a 1,720-acre park located on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee (formed as a New Deal-era initiative by the Resettlement Administration), this photograph features a view looking through the Byrd Lake Bridge Dam. The light on the ceiling is a reflection off of the lake, and, in the distance, a structure housing the Homestead Harvest Restaurant is visible. Imagine the sound of water rushing downstream around moss-covered rocks, amidst foliage in its autumnal change of season coloration. In the distance, a rickety old wooden bridge along a gravel road spans the waterway. It’s peaceful, without any sound outside of nature. Enjoy the beauty of this natural landscape scenery in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, as photographed November 1, 2021.
