On the way back home from Cummins Falls, I decided to stop in Monterey, Tennessee, for a short hike to the Bee Rock Overlook. From left to right, these photographs were taken on the cap rock from higher to lower elevations, and highlight seasonal colors.

This is Middle Prong Little River, as seen in the Tremont section of the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. In the distance, an old wooden bridge and gravel road leading deep into the forest.
This is Bee Rock Overlook, a broad capstone among pine trees offering visitors an expansive view of mountains and valleys of the Cumberland Plateau. It’s located in Monterey, Tennessee.
Water races downstream, over and around several large rocks along Middle Prong Little River. Located near Cades Cove, in the Tremont section of the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.
Though it’s growing through solid rock in the wild, seeing this small pine tree on the side of Bee Rock reminded me of a Bonzai tree. I took this photograph in Monterey, Tennessee, and you can see more – fine prints, etc. – when you visit the following galleries:

Located in Monterey, Tennessee, from Exit 300 along I-40, the Bee Rock Overlook is a short hike to a large capstone with expansive views of mountains and valleys.

Located on the Cumberland Plateau in Monterey, Tennessee, Bee Rock Overlook offers easy access from I-40 and a short hike to enjoy expansive views.
In between heavy rainfall as part of the weather system associated with tropical storm “Fred”, I was able to enjoy my first visit to this scenic overlook, albeit quite cloudy.
A large caprock of sandstone features several dated carvings with peoples initials. Parking is limited. No restrooms. Also, there are a few signs but no fences, so stay away from the edge (approx. 130-feet high).
