I recently had the opportunity to hike to Abrams Falls, a 20-foot tall waterfall located in Cades Cove. Featuring a constant, voluminous flow of water from Abrams Creek, it’s a 5.5 miles out and back hike along a moderately difficult trail, much of which is rocky and includes traversing three elevated peaks.
The park opens at sunrise, and I was the third car in line at the gate, waiting 20 minutes until entry was permitted. As such, I was the first hiker at the falls, having the area to enjoy by myself – for a while. This trail often becomes busy as morning progresses, with the parking lot nearly full upon my return.
