Upper Piney Falls

Located on the Cumberland Plateau in Grandview, Tennessee, the Piney Falls State Natural Area is home to Upper Piney Falls, a scenic 80-foot tall waterfall.

Though the moderately difficult hike is designed as a loop, most visitors prefer to stay left at the split and make this a 2.5 mile out and back trail, rather than follow the loop and rely on a loose cable to navigate steep hillsides. The parking is limited & dogs (leashed) are welcome. No restrooms on site.

Prints are available in my gallery at Pixels, where you can choose between several types: framed, canvas, art, wood, metal, poster, acrylic and tapestry. I appreciate your patronage ~ thanks for stopping by!

Similar to other areas, it’s possible to walk behind and around the waterfall, and people often enjoy cooling off in the plunge pool. There is also a separate trail which leads to the upper section of Lower Piney Falls, a 40-foot waterfall.

    Wow…impressive waterfall! Beautiful capture.

Thanks so much, dear Sherry. The gorge and waterfall was wonderful, though a pre-sunrise cloud cover plus thick fog delayed my hike by 20 minutes or so. 🐻 I don’t mind walking through a dark-though-lightening forest, but dark and foggy – with unidentified sources of sounds – is cause for pause. 😂 Have a great day!

Mooie fotoreeks! Fijne avond Phil! 🌞🤗

Heel erg bedankt, mijn liefste!

It looks like this waterfall is going into the Sparta section of the next trip. I should move. 🙃

It’s also located only 15 miles (or less) from Stinging Fork Falls. 👍

Thanks, I’m excited about this trip. Thanks to you there’s a lot to experience, I have a set amount of time and exploring costs time, it’s so cool to have destinations and locations.
