Cave Behind Waterfall

This cave is located at the Virgin Falls State Park, in Sparta, Tennessee, immediately behind Big Laurel Falls. As photographed, the water drains back into the cave and underground.

A unique environment, indeed, and more so given that there are cavernous spaces underground beneath this cave, where the water flows. At areas, one can feel that the sand floor has some give, seems rather spongy. I imagine that indigenous peoples probably made good use of these spaces, long ago. Thanks for visiting, dear Holly ~ have a great day! 🤗🌹

It was a really cool sight to see, indeed. The water drains inside of the cave, and, in spots along the back inside wall, you can hear water gurgling underground. The cave is approx. 160′ x 80′ deep and, if caught in a storm, would make a great (dry) place to chill. Glad you like it, my friend Tiffany! 😍
